Anne can't believe all the snow we have and wanted to see pics. (She lives in California where there is no snow) I don't think these pics do it justice. I have no idea how much snow we actually have now, I think 2 feet or more. We got snow last night and are supposed to get more tonight. The schools have been closed all week.

WooHoo!
So guess who went poop on the potty. That's right...Maddox! However, I think we made too big a deal out of it because now he doesn't want to. This morning he told me he had to go, we went into the bathroom, and he was adamant that he wasn't going to go on the potty. Instead he sat on the potty, fully clothed, and we read a book about using the potty. Better than nothing.

A $5 Starbucks card! What's better than coffee? (The picture on the card might look different since I haven't bought it yet, but you get the idea. If you didn't know it's snowed 15 inches here in the last 48 hours.)

Croup...
This would be an actual spider monky.
So Maddox has croup. YUCK!! His doctor has him on a prescription for steroids for three days. The steroids hype him up and turn him into a fever laden, germ spewing, crazy jumping spider monkey. So I get no sleep at night AND have to chase after my snot-nosed, bouncing child all day with a head cold of my own. Oh the joy. To top it all off, as if he didn't feel crappy enough, Maddox will miss his much anticipated field trip tomorrow morning to Jump n' Bounce. Nothin' but good times here at the McQuary house.

Sleddin' Video
So you can't really see his face or hear him very well, but he really liked sledding. This was his first time, we just used my parents driveway as a sledding hill.
Sweet Success!
So two nights ago Maddox went to sleep in his big boy bed without a peep and stayed in his bed all night long. I didn't post about it because I didn't want to jinx it, like I did before. So then nap time came and he took a nap in his big boy bed. This was a first because I was helping to take care of my Great Grandfather in the afternoons, and Maddox would take a nap there. I am no longer working so we'll be home for naps now. Then last night came and again he went to bed without a peep. Here's the kicker: he woke up at 5:00 am like usual, opened his door, saw that the gate was still blocking his door and that we were still in bed, he then closed his door and WENT BACK TO BED, BY HIMSELF! He slept until 7:30. Hopefully this time it'll last.

Not going well...Still
So we had a few people over last night for a Wii party. We let Maddox play a little tennis with everyone then put him to bed. We tried a new suggestion and put a baby gate up in his doorway. Hoping that this would keep him in his room. I don't care if he "reads" or plays in his room for a while, he just can't be running around the house. We were downstairs but had the baby monitor on and we were sure that he'd gone to sleep. FINALLY! He was back to being fine with the big boy bed. So we thought. I went upstairs to get everyone another beer. I look around the corner and I see the bottom of the baby gate flip up. Then it flips up again. Then here comes a Maddox trying to crawl underneath the baby gate. He wasn't asleep. I don't know why I was so surprised. Put him back in his bed, went downstairs to make Shawn handle it. Hey, he's home he can take a turn dealing with his child. By the time Shawn got to the top of the stairs Maddox had escaped again. Maddox doesn't like it when Shawn gets unhappy with him (doesn't give a crap if I'M unhappy with him) so after a few minutes we really went to bed. Until 5:00 am when someone starts pulling on my blanket to wake me up. He had escaped again. Oh the Joy.

Tagged!
L Boogie (AKA Leslie) over at Blog for Life has tagged me for a Movie Meme - the First Meme of 2008. I'm not so sure that this is a good Meme for me. We don't go see movies as often as we'd like, and while we are a member of Netflix, we never get our movies back in a timely manner to get more. Add in my husband's weird sense of humor that has now rubbed off onto me...and we'll just see how it goes.
Rented:
*The Italian Job - An action movie that I enjoyed.
*Hairspray - While Shawn hated this I thought it was pretty funny, especially John Travolta.
*Superbad - While not as good as we were expecting, still very funny.
At the Theatre:
*Blades of Glory - Hilarious. The scene where they're running through the place in their ice skates made me laugh so hard that I cried. Shawn was totally embarrassed because no one else in the theatre thought that part was funny, so I was the only person cracking up.
*I Now Pronounce you Chuck & Larry - Again, hilarious. Shawn has every Adam Sandler movie ever made.
Hmmmm...not a lot on my list. Maybe this should have been a Meme of movies that weren't very good. That would be a bigger list. So, as you can see we watch movies purely for entertainment and don't really watch anything that requires a lot of thought. Hope you enjoyed my (short) list! I'll update if I think of more.

Should Have Known...
Well, we thought it was too good to be true when Maddox just "took" to his big boy bed so easily. We had no sooner finished congratulating ourselves when it all went wrong. He had four perfect nights. Went to bed without a peep and stayed asleep in bed all night. Last night we had problems from the start. He didn't want to go to bed. We'd lay him down, cover him up, close the door. He'd get out of bed, open the door, and come running down the hallway. We'd lay him down, cover him up, close the door. He'd get out of bed, open the door, and come running down the hallway. Finally, after the third sprint through the house Shawn told him that if he didn't stay in bed this time he was going to get spanked. (I'm not going to debate spanking vs. not spanking with anyone so don't bother. We do the best we can in the McQuary household) So we laid him down, covered him up, & closed the door for the 4th time. This time he was sneakier. He just opened the door a little bit, saw Shawn standing in the hall waiting for him and he closed the door again. Shawn attempted to go in to see if he'd gone back to his bed only to realize that his son, not yet 2, was trying to hold the door closed so Shawn couldn't get in. True to his word Shawn smacked his butt. It was only when Shawn explained why he got a smacked butt that Maddox started to cry. He stayed in his bed after that. Until 11:30 when we did a re-run of the experience, minus the spanking. Then again at 2:00, and finally at 5:00 am we are just up for the day. "We", however, are not in a good mood.
